Rice played a leading role in the passage of Senate Bill 5 to establish the Dementia Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (DPRIT) during the 89th Legislative Session. DPRIT is a bold initiative designed to accelerate discoveries in brain health and support research of neurodegenerative diseases.
But there is another step: This November, DPRIT needs Texas voters to approve allocating $3 billion over the next decade, creating the nation's largest state-funded dementia research program.
The Alzheimer’s Association has launched the "Yes on Proposition 14" campaign — an effort to raise public awareness and support for approving DPRIT funding, significantly expanding Texas’ capacity to drive breakthroughs in Alzheimer’s and other dementia-related research.
Already a hub of brain relevant research, Rice will help DPRIT lead innovations in brain health. Working with the Alzheimer's Association, we can build momentum for Proposition 14 and help engage Texas voters ahead of Election Day on November 4, 2025.
